The special structure and performance of LCD display devices and modules must follow certain special requirements in application:

  1. LCD display device connection process

  The LCD display device consists of two pieces of glass. The outer lead is made of transparent conductive film lithography attached to the surface, which cannot be used by the traditional welding process. The commonly used connection technology is as follows:

  (1) conductive rubber connection

  That’s the traditional way. A conductive rubber strip called zebra conductive rubber strip, is a layer of conductive rubber, a layer of insulation rubber layer into a very thick piece, and then according to the direction perpendicular to the surface cut into strips of rubber.

  (2) metal pin connection

  The metal is stamped into pins, and the pins are firstly inserted and fixed at the outer lead end of the LCD display device, which can be welded or inserted on the circuit board when used by users.

  (3) hot-pressed film soft connection

  Used in calculators and digital communication equipment. The hot-pressing conductive connection belt is polyester film, printed on the spacer with a graphite conductive strip and insulating hot-pressing adhesive. When in use, align one end of the conductive tape with the outer lead of the LCD device to attach, add potential and pressure, and then align the other end of the conductive stripe with the lead end of the circuit board to attach, heat and pressure.Because it needs a certain pressure and temperature, so the user needs to configure a special hot press.

  (4) anisotropic conductive adhesive connection

  The so-called anisotropic conductive adhesive is a hot-pressed film as shown in figure 1. There are gold-plated plastic balls scattered in the film. After heating and pressurization between the LCD and the circuit board, the leads are connected by conductive plastic balls due to the thin film. Due to the large distance between the leads, they will not be connected horizontally. So it is called anisotropic conductive connection. Also called TAB connection.

  2. Lighting of LCD display devices

  The LCD display is a passive display device, itself does not emit light, by modulating external light to achieve display, so lighting is the key technology of LCD application. Daylighting is generally divided into natural lighting, external light source, and projection light source.

  (1) natural lighting

  The easiest, cheapest, and a least energy-intensive way to use natural light is to use natural light for most timing, counting, and LCD displays on portable devices.

  (2) setting of the external light source

  The external light source is set as one to solve the visibility when there is no external light, and the other is to improve the display effect.

  Commonly used LCD display device external light source Settings mainly refer to the backlight Settings. The main requirements for setting backlight are that the brightness of the surface light source with uniform brightness can be adjusted well, the volume is thin and light, and the color accuracy, power consumption and cost are low.

  3. Matters needing attention for the use of LCD display devices and modules

  (1) avoid exerting pressure on the device surface;

  (2) prevent wave damage;

  (3) protect pins;

  (4) device moisture;

  (5) prevent scratches and pollution;

  (6) prevent direct current;

  (7) UV protection;

  (8) use and store within the specified temperature range;

  (9) anti-static interference.
